HIsource Hydroponics
Established in Hawaii, where the soil is rich with nutrient, unfortunately the availability of space to operate a traditional garden is few and far between. After struggling to find fresh produce at an affordable price, we looked at vertical gardening options in condensed space.
Our first look into hydroponics didn’t seem viable as all we saw were industrial farms OR overly priced home systems that produced little to no yield. Avoiding the high costs of the at home systems, we elected to try some DIY hydroponic systems. Long story short, we would have saved a lot of money and time buying pre-bought kits. The tinkering however was enjoyable and developed our understanding of how these systems work, what plants work best in which system. We also came across must have products that made the experience that much easier!
Believing in a better future for the planet we were hooked on the idea of hydroponics. No soil requirements means no erosive tillage. Recycled water systems reduce water requirements. Energy efficient lighting combined with renewable energy sources keep electricity constraints down. The writing was on the wall that hydroponics is the future, given its many applications from industrial farming to providing bountiful home gardens.
We aim to make the introduction to hydroponics as simple as possible in order to promote this style of production. We’ve taken the lessons we’ve learned and made products that tailor to the average person looking to provide Eco-friendly self-sustainment.
